The Elmridge Teaching School offers degree-level Initial Teacher Training in Manchester through the School Direct route and also provides training opportunities for teachers and senior leaders.

Positive relationships are at the very centre of our ‘Give, Gain, Grow’ Teaching School Alliance. These relationships, with schools and school-based colleagues, ensure a school-led approach to teacher training and development which is both successful and collaborative. By working together with our teaching school partners, we ensure that we provide high quality, relevant and robust teacher training and qualifications to ensure that our trainees are fully equipped for the profession.

Our Teaching School works in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Learning Partnership which has been set up to improve outcomes for children and young people by bringing together the work of key educational partners across Greater Manchester.

The Teaching School is also at the heart of our growing multi-academy trust, The Dunham Trust. Our Trust provides opportunities for training to take place across many different schools and also provides a wide support network and broad experiences.

We ensure high quality across all of our projects and training courses and ensure that all our activity is reviewed and shapes future projects in order to continually improve the delivery of our activities.

Teaching Schools have an important role to play in a school-led system and school improvement. Our Teaching School prioritises:

  • Initial teacher training
  • Continuing professional and leadership development
  • School to school support
